Assignment 2 - Making a Script... To Make a Film

The time has come to make a film! However, before we can do that there is a checklist of things we need to do!

The Proposal

Your proposal tells me - or potential investors what exactly it is that you want to capture. It informs not only the investors (or teachers) what your idea is but actors as well.

The Script

The script is a very important aspect of a movie. Attached to your proposal, it is designed to tell you all of the important things you need to know at a glance. In order to create effective films, we need to create effective scripts.

Click here to see a template of what a movie script should look like.

You will be writing a one page script. The reason for this is one page of script is roughly equal to one minute on screen. This is why it is so important to follow the same font, margins, size, etc.

Click here if you would like a sample script you can use as a template. (Taken from wikipedia)

Shot List

We have already gone over shot lists and we will continue to use them because they are so important! A shot list tells the camera operators exactly what the shot needs to look like so they can have the cameras set up before shooting begins. This saves everyone a lot of time. And as we all know in show business, time is money!

This will outline your entire assignment.

Assignment 3 - Three Minutes

Your next assignment you are being asked to create a three minute movie.

This movie can be whatever you would like! A music video, a movie trailer, a story about your love of Nutella. The possibilities are endless.

You will be shooting this project in groups of three. I am looking for a detailed shot list and script. Please refer to our previous post for proper script formatting.

Please refer to this document for more detailed instructions.

Also, anyone you worked with on your last project is not allowed to be in this project.
